Provincial Cross Country Championship

Welcome back to another Cross-Country Championship! This event will take place at the Charlottetown Rural High School.
Distances: Juvenile Men and Women 3.5 km
Senior Women 5.0 km
Senior Men 5.0 km
Every athlete competing must have an
onsite school representative. This can be your cross-country coach, a teacher, or a parent.
No athletes will be permitted to run without a responsible on-site representative from your school. PEISAA rule. Registration packages will be available at the coaches meeting.
Runners may not wear headphones or ear buds while racing.

12:30 Coaches meeting
12:45 Juvenile Women 3.5 km First year in high school, grade 10
1:15 Juvenile Men 3.5 km First year in high school, grade 10
1:55 Senior Women 5.0 km 2nd or 3rd year of high school and/or grade 11and 12
2:20 Senior Men 5.0 km 2nd or 3rd year of high school and/or grade 11and 12
Eligibility: Athletes must run in their regional meet and qualify in order to compete at provincials. A runner may also qualify by competing in any other qualifying meet that your zone might choose to offer.
Recommendation: we are asking coaches to use the honor system and respect the minimal qualifying times, and only bring athletes that can actually run the length of the course. Schools will have to run a qualifying race and use the following minimal qualifying times to register their runners.

Additional qualifying meets can be offered at the unit level. Individual schools may not run qualifying meets without SAA approval. Additional qualifying meets will be offered to accommodate athletes who are legitimately unable to compete in their zone meet. (Medically unable, national soccer tourney)
Scoring: All entries in each race will be counted, including those not competing with a team. The top 5 finishers from each school will score for that team.
Note: In the case of a tie for the provincial team title, we will break the tie by looking at the 5th place runner. The lowest placing will be the deciding factor.
Awards: The top 3 finishers in each class will receive medals. Finishers 4-10 in each age class will receive ribbons. The winning team in each age class will receive a provincial bar/banner.
