2024 Intermediate Golf Provincials Summary

Once again, the Intermediate Golf Provincial Championships were held at Avondale Golf Course on October 9^th, 2024.  We were fortunate to have excellent weather and received tremendous support from Connor Lea and his staff at the course.  This year the field boasted 59 individual competitors from across the island as well as a total of 28 teams competing in the team scramble portion. Both of these numbers are an increase from last year, which is great to see.
            In the individual girls play, Birchwood dominated with a first and second place finish. East Wilthshire finished third and Queen Charlotte came in fourth place. As for the team scramble portion of the girls’ tournament, Birchwood also finished first, with Queen Charlotte placing second, M.E. Callaghan coming third and Montague finishing in fourth place. Such strong performances in both the individual and team play had Birchwood taking home the provincial championship banner by a landslide.
            The individual boys play was very close seeing Grace Christian take first place after a tie break using retrogression. Birchwood then finished strongly taking second, third, and fourth place. First place and fourth place were only separated by a total of three strokes. There was some very strong play in the boys field. As for the team scramble portion of the boys’ competition, it was once again Birchwood finishing in first place with a score of eight strokes under par! Grace Christian took home second place followed by Stonepark in third and M.E. Callaghan in fourth. Birchwood also won the provincial championship banner in the boys’ competition.
